great news
ReplyDeleteI'll help seed all torrents for as long as I can. Don't have a great up link, but at least it won't die.
ReplyDeleteSame Here!
Deleteimages for miguel and egypt themes are swapped over!
ReplyDeletegood to hear this news though
Thanks for catching this! Fixed.
DeleteDoes Anonymous just live to annoy people? You sound just like Comic Book Guy on "The Simpsons" dude... "worst distro ever". Geez man, get a life. I've yet to come across a copy of Mint that ever worked right on my PCs and I've talked to others who say the same. Jeff's contribution with Bodhi is much appreciated by me, and runs like a jewel on my old IBM ThinkPad and my much newer HP laptop. Speed, desktop theme choices, cool eye-candy that Micro$oft hasn't figured out how to accomplish without gobbling up 4GB of RAM. Thanks Jeff! Well let Anonymous get back to wackin' off to dream girls on the Internet, instead of contributing to anything.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words - in an effort to not feed the trolls I've removed the posting from the unnamed person.
DeleteI wish I could have a row of computers to just test and fidget with distros. So far Bodhi is the second one to catch my eye to actually install on a computer. =)
DeleteIs there LTS Release?
ReplyDeleteAll of Bodhi's releases are LTS releases.
DeleteIs there any way in the future that you could make a version of bodhi bases on arch or the non LTS version of ubuntu I just hate having such old versions of software
DeleteIt looks awesome and apart from main line distro soon I am going to test it.
ReplyDeleteI'm on Bodhi since version 1.3 at home PC and Enlightenment development is impressive, but themes looks like cartoons :)
ReplyDeleteThemes are 100% subjective. Half the people say the E themes look "cartoony" or "glossy" and the other half just love them.
DeleteEither way they are 100% community created - so if you think you can do better than do better! If you don't think you can do better - then don't complain.
Look at the Bodhi Forum, they have a thread with a lot of amazings Desktops/themes/icons
DeleteI am also on Bodhi 1.4.0 which has worked well for me - I have yet to try out the recent Bodhi 2+ releases how do I do a system level upgrade without having to uninstall my existing 1.4.0 configurations - basically I have got Ubuntu partitions beside Bodhi and this is the first time I am doing an upgrade instead of a fresh reinstall..
DeleteVery nice, Jeff. Ganbatte!
ReplyDelete"do better or don't complain" It may be ideal world among developers but users always complain, find something to complain :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeff,
ReplyDeleteI am new to Bodhi and like it very much. Very fast on an old Thinkpad X30...much better than other distros...This is important for me. It is important for the future of developping nations...that the millions of old computers which cost around 100$ and still work might be used and not discarded contributing to world pollution. It allows also billions of people to be able to afford a computer.
Thanks to Bhodi, this is possible, even if this hurts your modesty...its a great gift for humanity (no jokes).
Long and cool life to Bodhi and the team!
Excellent comment! :-)
DeleteThis new release definitely does not disappoint. It runs wonderfully on my aging Thinkpad T41. Great work!!
ReplyDeleteWhich version/release of Ubuntu is it based on?
ReplyDeleteBetter support for VMware/VirtualBox like other distros?
Thanks.
Bodhi is always based on LTS mate.
DeleteSo, this one is on 12.04 Precise Pangolin.
Love your work, Jeff! Thanks so much for a stable distro with E on top.
ReplyDeleteI really love Bodhi Linux and your hard work! The choice to practically have every relies of Bodhi as LTS is fantastic, very comfortable and really smart!!! Friends that got Bodhi installed by me on their computers appreciated that Bodhi as so many different themes and profiles "...is like to have many different systems on the same computer and like to change shoos every day..." (a female friend's comment ;-)".
ReplyDeleteThe system runs even faster now with 2.3 upgrade. Anyway... THANKS A LOT Jeff and you others in the stuff!!!!
(PS: this review of Bodhi is perfect to make people curious about Bodhi and I use it to convince my friends to choose Bodhi..the rewiev starts att 0:41:39: http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/30416/bodilicious-bodhi-review-las-s25e04/ )
My very first linux was Bodhi Linux, but at the time it had a bad habit of forcing logout randomly, also PCManFM crashing so easily, requiring reboot in order to use it again. Thus I switched to Lubuntu which is more stable.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the new version has increased stability.
Hey Jeff,
ReplyDeleteI am new to linux( have only been using Ubuntu 12.04 for 6 months) but was looking for a light weight distro for my netbook. After some poking around, I've decided on Bodhi Linux - the reviews and advice I got about it are great. I am looking forward to installing it and "spreading my wings a little - linuxiwise".
FYI You should know I got really good info about Bodhi from: http://tinyurl.com/c2svtyg and http://tinyurl.com/c9c59lj
Really looking forward to having a light weight but powerful distro on my netbook.
Which is the password for LiveCD? Why a LiveCD need to use a password? I can't find any informetion about the password in the Bodhi Linux Site.
ReplyDeleteSome screenshots of Bodhi 2.3.0 here: http://linuxscreenshot.netsons.org/bodhi-2-3-0/
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work Jeff. Your distro (2.2) is actually the only linux distro i've tried that installs and runs (somewhat descent) on my crappy fujitsu tablet with intel oaktrail. Iĺl be happy to try out this new version.
ReplyDeleteJust want to say thxs for this great distro. I've been using it for the past year. I'm a developer and I work with different technologies. I usually install software I work with on my home server. I use Bodhi
ReplyDeleterunning under VirtualBox to run various environments
Postgres, MySql Mongo DB and anything else I'm playing with at the moment.
Now if only I could get Bodhi running on my Samsung T300 :-)
Great... I knew you would do this... Now I have to ditch Slackware again - 'cos your distro is slick, fast polished and too damn sexy... Don't you realise the guilt you put people through! Speed and eye candy! Your distro should be made illegal... I'm weeping now as I burn your distro onto a disk - yes soon my beloved slackware will be gone and replaced by the sultry, sexy, fast BODHI... Whimper...
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of Linux Lite for it's simplicity and ease of use, but after I found Bodhi Linux I fell in love with it 'cause it's also superb/fantastic/marvelous I can go on. I'm a fan of minimalism and stuff getting the job done: that's Bhodi Linux all in all :) that, and Bhodi being full of eyecandy :)))) greetings from Mexico!
ReplyDeleteWell, I would really like to see 2.3.0 on my Raspberry Pi not to far from now.
ReplyDeleteBest without the nasty feature "Enlightenment SGV'd...", of course.
Sorry to have to say, 2.2.0 tends towards self distruction on my Pi, soon after running the basic updates.
BTW, half of the repos seem to be down / invalid, even after refreshing packet info.
Same with the German translation, gone with the wind.
No "install now", no download, no morror, no whatsoever else....
Good luck anyway
Jürgen from Hamburg Sternschanze
Bodhi Linux Rocks,
ReplyDeleteAfter trying Jolicloud, Fedora, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Xfce and others I have to say this is the best distro I have used over the course of 5 years.
Eye candy with minimalism and speed is superb with a fine balance, This will catch on fire in the community.
Documentation is also superb.
Well done!!!
I have just spent a week trying one distro after another -- from Zorin, to LinuxOS Full Monty, to Linux Mint, etc. None of them had what I wanted until I tried Bodhi. I LOVE IT!!! Simple, intuitive, efficient, fast and extremely pretty. I am nuts about the themes -- especially Egypt. It makes me feel like I am in a warm and cozy place, playing a favorite video game (like JewelQuest or Luxor). I couldn't be happier. Thanks!
