Bodhi Linux 2.0.0 Released

Well boys and girls the wait is finally over. After two months in the making 2.0.0 is officially our stable release. This build features the stable Linux 3.2 kernel, PCManFM file manager, the latest version of the Midori browser:

and finally the brand spanking new Terminology terminal emulator:

Bodhi 2.0.0 is our first stable release to be offered in both 32 and 64bit flavors. Please note the torrent download is much faster than the direct download:

The Bodhi team and I would like to extend our thanks to everyone who made this release possible. Most notably the E17 team and our community of testers!

If you encounter an issue with this release I would please implore you to first check your download md5sum. If your download is fine I would then ask that you request help on our user forums - not in the comments section of this blog post.

Finally - if you enjoy using Bodhi and think this release works well I would encourage you to please send a message to your favorite Linux/Technology writers letting them know there is some new Bodhi goodness to be had! Also - if you have some spare bandwidth I would encourage you to seed our torrents for awhile.

Cheers,
~Jeff Hoogland

  9. This is a fantastic release. It is the highest functioning release to date ( For me at least ). Although all since 1.3 have been very stable for me this is by far the best. Thanks a bunch to everyone who made this happen

  14. Hi. Is it possible to use absolutely no gnome/kde packages/libraries on it? A pureblood enlightenment...

    1. We are slowly moving towards the default release being EFL only - however at this point in time there just aren't enough tools to fill all of our most basic needs with EFL applications.

  15. Great to hear that the 2.0 version is out now.
Please keep the preinstalled software very low. I think we don't need 3 preinstalled sound and video players. For example: I only use vlc for everything with sound or video and I'm happy that I can choose the software I like under bodhilinux. That's why I want to keep bodhilinux as my main system.

  16. Is Bodhi's base Ubuntu 12.04? It too has the stable kernel 3.2
What is underneath Bodhi? Gnome 3.4 or not?

  17. I have tried 2.0.0 now and after the installation it says it could not connect to the lubuntu profile and uses the default profile. the default profile is just the bodhi splash screen.
Is this because I did not remove the config files from the not deleted /home?

    2. It is ok. It happened, because there have been config files left.

  18. Bodhi 32 bit don't want to boot. It keeps on scrolling failed to allocate something. Same with CD and USB stick. It boots into safe mode, but says install xinit, but that cannot be done. Hope you'd find a answer to this problem.

  19. Great distro. Work very fast. It's amazing. I will waint untill it's stabilized and i will install on my laptop.
One observation: on my laptop, with intel 3945ABG card, network it's not detected automatically. Need to setup manually SSID of my router. After that everything work well.

    Great job again!!!

  22. This enlightenment desktop is so much nicer than KDE or Gnome. Really pretty, no awkward stuff in corners, all options seem easy to get to. Yeah, like it.
