Bodhi Linux 2.0.1 - Bug Fix Release

Some of you might be slightly confused by this posting since our 2.0.0 release was published just five days ago. No piece of software is perfect and our 2.0.0 release is no exception to this. Since we released last Thursday our 2.0.0 discs have received over 15,000 downloads - a number the Bodhi team and I are extremely happy with. With this large influx of users we have received a piles of user feedback and bug reports - some of which need to be dealt with right away (not two months from now when our next scheduled update release is set to come out).

With this in mind I would like to cut straight to the point and give you the disc downloads for 2.0.1 (as always torrent is fastest):



What was so pressing you ask that demanded we release bug fix ISO images now instead of waiting for our normal scheduled release? Well a few things:
  • Added a variety of firmware to the default install to greatly increase wireless support
  • Added support for booting the ISO image via grub2
  • Added some missing ACPI scripts so suspending works
  • Removed a few misc mentions of 10.04/1.4.0 left behind in documentation
Users that have already installed our 2.0.0 release (or alphas) and are keeping up to date with their software updates via the package manager will already be at our 2.0.1 release:


No need to reinstall for minor/bug fix releases - but I would encourage you to grab this latest ISO image for use with your live media.

    Perhaps it would be good to mention that you need to perform a 'dist-upgrade'. I for one forgot about that more than once.

    As for the Dist-upgrade I stumbled on this article and used it in my .bashrc. Works great.
    I copied this, to the last line of .bashrc in my home folder.
    alias up='sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade && sudo apt-get autoclean && sudo apt-get autoremove'

    Change 'apt-get upgrade' to 'apt-get dist-upgrade' and your script is perfect.

    I have Bodhi 1.3 since around one year . I don´t remember the number version exactly, but this is less important. Thank you for your job Jeff!! Very Good OS!!

    I wasn't even able to run it live until the update but it worked fine with the updated version and now have it installed :) although I am finding you tube vids aren't playing quite so smooth as they were with 1.4. I really like Bodhi more than any other distro I have tried.

    on my fossilized Athlon XP 2200+ system with GeForce 6200 GFX bodhi flies with all fancy stuff (not that i need them) enabled. gnome and kde have met their match.

    Thanks for this update. I have download Bodhi 2.0.1 and installed it in a usb using unetbootin. I am running it for only 1-2 minutes. It run/ response faster then my thought on my P4, 512 MB RAM machine. Everything is fine and satisfactory except one. There is no network manager on bottom panel by default. I have to active it from Applications>Internet>Network. Is it your choice? Is it normal in this version?

    BTW, the green mouse pointer is really lovely. Thanks for this cute choice.

      The network manager does not launch on the live disc by default any more no. The launcher was added to the menu to compensate for this.

    I am running out of partition and I'd like to to keep bodhi-1.4 for as long as I want. Got e17 installed on ubuntu 12.04 but would like to be able to install some bodhi packs. What should I do?

      I can't accurately provide support for using Bodhi packages on non-Bodhi systems.

    I have 1.4 installed and want to upgrade to 2.0
    After apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade
    got nothing to upgrade (repos still pointing to lucid...)

    How can I load ecomorph ,tried sudo apt-get ecomorph ,looked in the synaptic package manager ,not there !!
    Tried to load E17 ,destroyed Enlightenment .I thought E17 was enlightenment . The Bohdi Linux system is fine ,like the graphics but unlike PXLINUXOS I cannot get rotating cubes etc using E17 + ecomorph .HELP CHEERS Bill Cotter

      We are no longer maintaining Ecomorph. Please use the native Enlightenment compositing manager.

    I have installed Bodhilinux and personalized to my hearts content. I then remastered it using remastersys available in the synaptic package manager.

    Could you please tell me what is the username and password if I want it to run on other m/cs in the 'live' mode?

    Though there is a learning curve for the distro its blazing fast and I am greatly impressed. Thank you for providing it.

    Fantastically interesting distro! Going to wipe my Kubuntu partition and give it a try. I've always valued efficiency over flash, but from the looks of it, you've got both!

    Also, thank you so much for making it flexible; being able to streamline my desktop is just as important to me as a responsive OS. I can't wait to try it out.

    I installed it on my now old Dell Dimension 5000 with integrated Intel family grafic card. Bodhi is working in a fantastic way and the computer is like reborn. Very fast and really beautiful OS. Tank you so much for providing it!!!
    Ps the only thing that doesn't work are my speakers but I installed Pulse Audio Controll and they work now (the drivers are from Sound Max).
